Police Probing ‘sar Tan Se Juda’ Threat At Ghurdaudi Institute

Tuesday, 29 November 2022 | PNS | PAURI

The Pauri Police have registered a case after a paper with the threat of beheading was pasted recently on the door of the hostel room of a student of GB Pant Institute of Engineering and Technology, Ghurdaudi. The case was registered on the basis of a complaint filed by student Arpan Singh. A paper with the threat “Gustakh e nabi ki ek hi saza, sar tan se judam sar tan se juda…”was pasted on his hostel room door. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad has demanded that strict action should be taken against the guilty after investigation.

The VHP district president Mahendra Aswal told this correspondent that this matter is a cause for concern and anxiety. It may also hint towards the possibility of extremist tendencies in this mountainous district of Uttarakhand. He said that considering the sensitivity of the matter, a VHP delegation met the district’s senior superintendent of police Shweta Choubey and district magistrate Ashish Chauhan. The delegation gave a memorandum to the DM and demanded strict action against the guilty. The DM has assured necessary and strict action following the police investigation. The Pauri police have registered a case under section 506 of the Indian Penal Code and investigation has been started. The institute director Y Singh said that it is fully cooperating with the police. He said that the incident took place about three to four days ago and the student informed the authorities about it on the next evening. The paper with the treath was removed the next day and in its place another paper with the word ‘sorry’ was found pasted.
