The court of Pauri chief judicial magistrate Ravi Prakash has directed the Pauri municipality chairman Yashpal Benam and two others- Ashok Bisht and Sarita Negi to maintain peace and observe good conduct while ordering that they will be under probation for one year. The probation officer will monitor the trio and report to the court on observing any adverse conduct. The trio has also been directed to submit personal bonds.

It is pertinent to mention that that the CJM had earlier convicted the BJP leader Benam along with advocate Ashok Bisht and Sarita Negi under sections 353, 504 and 506 of IPC in a case of April 2017. It was alleged by the then district excise officer that the three had misbehaved, assaulted and threatened him in the presence of the then district magistrate and SSP in an official meeting on April 24, 2017. The court had fixed the Monday for sentencing. The defence counsel pleaded that there was no ill-intention of the convicted accused who were agitating against a liquor shop.
