Various Decisions Taken By Dhami Govt In 1-month To Fulfill Commitments

The State government headed by chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has completed one month of its term in office. Even during this short duration, Dhami has maintained an active approach while keeping the focus on administrative reforms and good governance. He has attempted to send a message on zero tolerance and transparent administration while also taking some decisions to hit at corruption. The Dhami government has taken various decisions in this one month to fulfill promises made to the public.

The government launched corruption free app- 1064 to facilitate direct complaints against corrupt officials. Steps were also taken towards facilitating the drafting of Uniform Civil Code and verification of people from outside the State living in Uttarakhand.

After inaugurating Adi Shankaracharya’s statue at Kedarnath in November 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said that this decade will belong to Uttarakhand. Dhami has been working to meet this target in pursuance of the PM’s statement. After becoming the chief minister for the second consecutive term, Dhami had made his intentions clear in the first cabinet meeting. Following up on Dhami’s pre-poll promise of Uniform Civil Code in Uttarakhand, it was decided in the first cabinet meeting that a committee of experts will be formed to prepare the draft of the code. It was decided that a committee comprising legal experts, prominent citizens and other stakeholders will be formed to prepare the draft of the Uniform Civil Code for Uttarakhand.

Comprehending the need to prevent unwanted elements from entering the state in order to maintain the culture and peaceful atmosphere in the state, Dhami directed elaborate verification campaign in the state. This campaign has been started by the state police. Further, in order to encourage pilgrimage, a plan has been prepared for expanding the physical infrastructure of all temples and Gurudwaras on the Char Dham circuit along with transport facilities. The Manaskhand Mandir Mala mission is going to be started soon in order to make the ancient temples in Kumaon grand. As part of mission Mayapuri, a roadmap is being prepared to develop Haridwar into the international Yoga capital and among the major international spiritual tourism destinations. Apart from this Dhami has taken various decisions in public interest so far. It was decided that old-age pension will be provided to both the eligible wife and husband. The amount for old age pension, widow maintenance grant and handicapped persons’ pension was increased from Rs 1,200 to Rs 1,500 per month. Dhami has also focused on development of basic facilities. The Parvat Mala project has been prepared for developing ropeway network in mountainous regions. Parking facilities are being developed in urban areas with there being plans for developing multi-storey, cavity and tunnel parking along with surface parking. With special focus on women empowerment, the Dhami government has decided to form a special fund for assisting women self help groups. The process to implement the pre-poll promise of three free cooking gas cylinders to every in a year has also been started. To enhance communication especially in the rugged mountainous regions of the state, a proposal has been prepared to provide 4G/5G mobile network and high speed broadband and fibre internet in the state. To enhance the condition of farmers and double their income, the CM Kisan Protsahan Nidi is also being started on the lines of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. To meet its aim of making Uttarakhand an organic State, the government is forming the Uttarakhand organic brand to build an all-India market for such produce.

Comprehending the importance of people living in the border villages of Uttarakhand, Dhami has also focused on preventing migration from villages near the international border and enhance facilities in such areas. Necessary assistance will now be provided under the Him Prahari Yojana to settle ex-servicemen and youth in districts with international borders.
