Cong Delegation Meets U’khand Governor

A Delegation of Uttarakhand Congress party met the governor Lieutenant General ( Retd) Gurmit Singh and expressed their concern on what they termed deteriorating law and order situation in the state. The 11 member delegation was led by the in charge of Uttarakhand Congress Devendra Yadav, former chief minister Harish Rawat, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President Karan Mahara and Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Yashpal Arya. The delegation submitted a memorandum to the governor in which grave concern on increase in the increasing incidents of murder, robbery, rape, violence against children and women and requested the governor to intervene. In the memorandum mention of all the above mentioned incidents was given. The general secretary organisation of Uttarakhand Congress, Mathura Dutt Joshi said that the incident of stone pelting on a religious procession on April 16 in Danda Jalalpur of Haridwar district has exposed the pathetic law and order situation prevailing in the state.  He said that the local administration had made no route chart and time of the religious procession and had made no security arrangements for the procession. The Congress delegation alleged that after the incident the security personnel took away the keys of the Ambulance which caused trouble and delay in sending the injured to the hospital. The Congress leaders also alleged that the police and administration are acting in a partisan manner and demanded that a free and fair inquiry should be ordered in the incident. The delegation included deputy leader of Congress in state assembly Bhuwan Kapdi, MLAs Mamta Rakesh, Furkan Ahmed, Anupma Rawat, Virendra Kumar Jati, Sumit Hridayesh and state vice president Jot Singh Bisht.
