BJP on its way out, Congress poised to form government in the state- Pritam, Yadav

In a massive show of strength, the Uttarakhand unit of Congress party held a protest march for the residence of Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday in Dehradun. The protest was organised against what the party alleged the failure of the BJP government of Uttarakhand in controlling spiralling prices, skyrocketing of prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas and deaths due to government’s negligence during Covid -19 period.

The march to the CM’s residence started from Rajiv Bhawan located on busy Rajpur road in the afternoon. Addressing the party workers, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Pritam Singh said that the BJP believes that it will secure power in the state and country always by dividing people in the name of religion. He said that the people of the state gave a big mandate to the BJP in the elections of 2017 in the hope that the double engine government would give employment, waive off loans of farmers and adopt Zero tolerance on corruption. Singh said that instead of reducing prices the price hike broke all records and unemployment is at an all time high. He said that two MLAs and one general secretary organisation got embroiled in cases of sexual harassment. The PCC president said that the people of the state are desperate to throw BJP out of power in Uttarakhand.

The In charge of Uttarakhand Congress Devendra Yadav said that the image of BJP has got tarnished to such an extent that the people don’t believe in the promises made by their leaders now. He said that the BJP has maligned the image of Uttarakhand by the Covid-19 test scam in Kumbh Haridwar. He claimed that the BJP is bound to lose the assembly election and the Congress would emerge victorious.

The Vice President of Uttarakhand Congress Surya Kant Dhasmana said that the massive crowd in the protest proves that the people of the state have made up their mind to form Congress government.

The rally was stopped by the police at Hathibadkala where a minor scuffle broke out with the Congress leaders. In this the PCC President suffered minor injury in his arm. The Congress workers courted arrest and were taken to the police lines where they were released after some time.

The protest was attended by secretary of AICC and MLA Qazi Nizamuddin, former PCC President Kishore Upadhyaya, MLA Adesh Chauhan, Mamta Rakesh, former minister Surveer Singh Sajwan, Dinesh Agarwal and others.
