A complete Lockdown will be enforced in Dehradun, Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar and Nainital districts on Saturday and Sunday. Essential services and the movement of people involved in these will be allowed during the lockdown. Chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said,“Considering the sudden rise in Covid cases on Thursday when there were at least 200 new cases, the only solution is to create a gap to break the chain. We are planning the closure only for this weekend and will review the situation and decide accordingly in the coming weeks,” said Rawat.
As per the guidelines issued by the state government, essential services exempted from the lockdown in the four districts include operations of industrial units in multiple shifts, agricultural and construction activities, liquor shops, hotels, movement of persons and vehicles associated with these activities, movement of goods on national and state highways, loading and unloading of cargo and travel of persons to their destinations after disembarking from buses, trains and airplanes.
