The celebrated singer popularly called as Jagar Samrat in U’khand has decided to create awareness for the disease

Shocked by surge in number of dengue cases noted folk singer Pritam Bhartwan is working on a song in which he would make the people aware about this dreaded vector borne disease. The celebrated singer popularly called as Jagar Samrat was prompted by the Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS) of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya (Coronation) hospital, Dr B C Ramola to prepare a song which would create awareness in the masses about dengue.  He told the Singer that since he is immensely popular among the people of Uttarakhand and has a direct connect with the public, he should come out with something on dengue. Dr Ramola was of the view that his appeal would be productive. The singer accepted the suggestion made by Dr Ramola. He said that awareness is the biggest weapon against the disease. Incidentally Bhartwan in past had sung songs on issues like alcoholism, environmental conservation and migration from the mountainous areas.

12 New cases of Dengue found

The state health department reported 12 new cases of Dengue in Dehradun on Tuesday. With them the number of the patients affected by the disease this season mounted to 364. 

The district vector borne diseases officer Subhash Joshi said that a health camp was organised by the department at Aamwala Tarla by the department on Tuesday. He said 21 patients of fever were examined in the camp out of whom samples of 12 were taken for ELIZA. 

Joshi said that team of health department are visiting the affected areas and activities like fogging and spread of insecticides are being undertaken apart from spreading awareness on preventive measures to be adopted for the disease. He added that Aedes mosquitoes – the vector of dengue- are capable to lay their eggs in one spoonful of water so the pots, vases, water bottles and coolers should be decanted regularly.  

 The symptoms of Dengue are persistently high fever, rashes, headache and pain in the joints. In the acute cases the platelets number decrease drastically which could prove fatal for the patient.
