The agitation of the field workers of the 108 emergency ambulance services affected health services in all parts of the state. The agitation ensured that only 10 per cent fleet of ambulances was on the roads to respond to the emergency calls. On the day the field workers of the ambulance service facing an uncertain future due to the notices of termination issued to them held a vehement protest at agitation site near the parade ground. The association of the field workers of the 108 ambulance service had given a call to march to the state secretariat on the day to highlight their plight.

The administration however refused permission for the march citing prevailing model code of conduct in the state. Denied permission, these workers organised a meeting at the parade ground. Later a delegation of the association submitted a memorandum directed to the state chief minister.

The general secretary of the association, Vipin Jamloki said the new company which is taking over the responsibility of operating the ambulance service should be asked to retain the old employees on the salaries they were receiving.

The contract of GVK EMRI Company to operate 108 emergency ambulance service is ending on April 30 as the state government had recently handed over the task of operating the 108 ambulance service to Community Action and Motivation Programme (CAMP). As the term of its contract is ending on April 30, the GVK- EMRI management has issued letters to the all its employees in which it is mentioned that April 30 would be their last day in service.
