True to his style of hogging the limelight, former chief minister Harish Rawat is attracting media attention by series of posts on social media platforms. After his barb on chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat that he has remained in the heart and minds of the people of Uttarakhand even after suffering electoral reverses, the former CM has now launched tirade against BJP on his Facebook page. In his new message, Harish Rawat has said that the BJP has become highly arrogant.  Turning philosophical he said that electoral losses don’t cast any effect on importance of any leader. In one of his latest posts on social media, the former CM has sarcastically said that he is happy as one of his tweets jolted the Uttarakhand BJP which is now trying to portray chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat as its super star.  He added that the CM should be thankful to him as his party is now recognising his contribution albeit belatedly.

In his tweet on Monday, Harish Rawat had questioned Trivendra Singh Rawat; “where were you in the elections? Did anyone seek votes on your name and works?”

What is interesting is that the former CM lost no time in leaving Assam where as a in charge of party he was engrossed steering the Congress party’s campaign after end of campaigning  and taking on CM of Uttarakhand on social media.

Political pundits are of the view that an astute politician he is, Harish Rawat is trying to underline the fact that he still is the tallest leader in Uttarakhand Congress and electoral losses has not undermined his image in past and nor it would do so in future. It is known fact that former CM who also is the member of Congress Working Committee (CWC) is fighting battle of his life from Nainital- Udham Singh Nagar Lok Sabha constituency against President of state unit of BJP Ajay Bhatt. It is widely believed that a electoral loss at this juncture of time would push him to the political oblivion. It is pertinent to mention here that Harish Rawat contested from Kichha in Udham Singh Nagar and Haridwar rural assembly constituencies in 2017. However, the veteran leader lost from both seats.

Senior journalist Jai Singh Rawat said that the reason behind sudden spurt in the activity of Harish Rawat on social media platform in which he has targeted CM Trivendra Singh Rawat appears that Harish Rawat wants to make it very clear that he would retaliate and retaliate hard if he is targeted. “ Harish Rawat is very intelligent and seasoned politician and knows what to say and when to say. He was perfectly right when he said that people have forgotten the names of those who have defeated him in the past elections but he continues to linger in heart and minds of people,’’ Jai Singh Rawat said.
