The Income Tax Department is aware of anomalies in Government departments and private enterprises regarding the filing of Tax Deducted at Source (TDS). According to reliable sources, on Monday, the department had conducted a survey of irrigation department at Kashipur on the basis of some information they had received earlier.

The survey found anomalies in the TDS. Further, sources state that the Income Tax department is aware of varied means being used to orchestrate anomalies in TDS by both governmental departments and private enterprises. Necessary action will be initiated by the department after fully ascertaining the anomalies and following due procedure.

It is pertinent to mention here that TDS in Uttarakhand amounts to more than Rs 2,000 crore per year.
