People will not be able to Enter Municipalities other than their place of residence for three days, starting 20:00 on Friday until 20:00 on Monday. The restrictions will not apply when travelling to attend funerals of family members, in cases of grave illness or injury, as well as when travelling for work or to get urgent medical assistance.
Non-residents will also be allowed to enter municipalities where they own property.
Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis said earlier this week that the restrictions would be put in place to contain the spread of the coronavirus, adding that compliance would be ensured by the police and the military, if necessary.
“The police will ensure compliance and they will enlist the help of the military, the Riflemen’s Union, police supporters, and other helpers, if necessary,” he said on Monday, adding that the municipalities “will be asked to […] limit all unnecessary entries into cities and towns”. Municipalities are yet to announce measures on how they plan to restrict movement.
