Ministers and MPs get tested for Covid-19

After Saeima parliamentary member Artuss Kaimiņš announced that he had Tested positive for the Covid-19 novel coronavirus, the Saeima Press Service announced on March 21 that all MPs and Saeima workers are urged to get tested, and several MPs and ministers have already announced that they’ve tested negative.

No 17.marta sakarā ar sliktu pašsajūtu es pašizolējos. Vakar nodevu analīzes, un šodien man piezvanīja par pozitīvu Covid19 rezultātu. Es atvainojos visiem, ar kuriem tikos 15. un 16. martā, un aicinu un lūdzu viņus pārbaudīties! — Artuss Kaimins (@artuss)  March 21, 2020

“From March 17 dues to feeling unwell I self-isolated. Yesterday I got tested and today I received a call with a positive Covid19 result. I apologise to all those I met with on March 15 and 16, and invite them to get tested!” tweeted Kaimiņš.

“Yesterday I got tested for COVID-19. Today I got a reply – results are negative. As far as I know, yesterday and today no infected persons have been found among MPs, ministers and Saeima workers. That of course doesn’t remove the need to observe social distancing measures,” tweeted MP Andrejs Judins (New Unity).

— Andrejs Judins (@AndrejsJudins)  March 22, 2020

Culture Minister Nauris Puntulis and Interior Minister Sandris Ģirģens have both also tested negative. Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš (New Unity) announced on twitter that he has tested negative, but that his office will continue work from outside to office, as they are considered contact persons.

According to Latvian Television on March 22, all ministers are observing self-isolation except Defense Minister Artis Pabriks (Development/For), Transport Minister Tālis Linkaits (New Conservative Party), Health Minister Ilze Viņķele (Development/For) and Foreign Affairs Minister Edgars Rinkēvičs (New Unity).

Sabiedrības veselības nolūkos valdība turpmāk strādās attālinātā režīmā. Latvijas Televīzijai zināms, ka pašizolācijā atrodas visi ministri, izņemot  @Pabriks   ,  @Talis_L   ,  @Vinkele   un  @edgarsrinkevics  .  pic.twitter.com/8rVjSvh1RS   — LTV Ziņu dienests (@ltvzinas)  March 22, 2020
