LaLiga: Why I made telephone gesture after scoring against Barcelona – Suarez

Barcelona manager, Ronald Koeman, has revealed his conversation with the club’s president, Joan Laporta, following their 2-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid in a LaLiga clash on Saturday.

Atletico Madrid striker, Luis Suarez, has explained why he made a Telephone Gesture celebration after scoring against his former club Barcelona in a LaLiga clash on Saturday night.

Atletico Madrid defeated Barcelona 2-0 at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano, thanks to two goals from Thomas Lemar and Suarez.

Suarez, who was told that he was surplus to requirements when Ronald Koeman took charge at Camp Nou, said his telephone gesture was not for Barcelona coach but for those people who know that he still has the same phone number.

“It was for the people who know that I have the same number and that I am still using the same phone,” Suarez said at his post-match press conference after the game.

“It was not for Koeman, not at all.

“If you want to know… I had been joking with my children that I would do that.”

He added, “I already knew that if I scored, I would apologise.

“Due to the respect, my affection, for being another Barcelona fan, for the career I had at Barcelona, for the [tough] period that my colleagues are going through, which is difficult, and the fans. Out of respect.”
