‘They pointed a gun to my head and asked me to say my last prayers’ – Bongo Ideas speaks on his arrest

In a shocking twist of events, Ghanaian Blogger, Bongo Ideas has revealed the ordeal he experienced when he was arrested by some men who masqueraded as police officers.

Albert Nat Hyde, his real name was reported to have been picked up by some men in the dawn of March 14 around 3 am.

The reports alleged that the blogger was picked up by some police officers and personnel from the National Security.

However, the Ghana Police and the National Security both dismissed the report stating that neither of them arrested the blogger.

Speaking in an interview with German-based DW on its recent episode of Flip Side, Bongo Ideas said his life was threatened by these men while in their custody.

“On March 14, 2024 around 3 am, some men masquerading as Police Officers Broke into my room and dragged me out.

“I was threatened to be killed, where pistols were pointed to my head and I was told to say my last prayers. They beat me up and warned me never to speak about the president,” he said.

His arrest was believed to have been linked with some ‘derogatory’ remarks he made about President Akufo-Addo and his wife, Rebecca.

Ghana Police Service denies arresting BongoIdeas

The blogger in a series of tweet made some allegations about the marriage between the President and his wife claiming that Rebecca Akufo-Addo has not been able to deliver for his husband since marriage.
