Two persons drown in ‘1 Village, 1 Dam’project at Tempane

Two persons have drowned in a ‘1 Village, 1 Dam’ project at the Tempane District of the Upper East Region.

The incident occurred on Saturday 23rd March 2024.

According to the Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Adam Asaana, in a Telephone Conversation, a boy aged 11 was first to drown in one of the dams in Tuboung, which necessitated a rescue mission by the youth in the community and NADMO officials. In the process, a young man aged 30, was also carried away by the water.

Meanwhile, the assembly member of the area, Simon Moyom Laar, in a telephone conversation, expressed his frustration and described the situation as unfortunate.

The bodies of the deceased were later found in the water and have since been released to the Police for the necessary actions.

The situation brought out hundreds of mourners, including opinion leaders and chiefs, and others from adjoining communities of Kpikpira in the Tempane District.

One found dead

In a related story, a 25-year-old man was found dead by the roadside at Gagbiri, in the Tempane District on Sunday, 24th March.

The lifeless body had multiple cuts all over the body and was covered by blood. the corpse has since been taken to Garu Presbyterian Hospital by Police for further investigations.

Reports say one person has been picked up by Police in connection with the incident.
