Aisha Huang took my 3 acre-farm, paid me GHC24k – Prosecution’s 4th witness

The State prosecution called on its 4th witness Albert Appiah, a farmer from Denkyira Domenase who told the court that Aisha Huang had taken over his farmland near Bepotenten for her illegal mining activities.

Submitting his witness statement into evidence, Albert Appiah noted that Aisha Huang approached him in the company of her employee, James Ogbey and others asking him to extend her mining activities to his land.

“To my understanding all the mining activities of the accused person were within the concession of Nana Kwesi Prempeh, whose company is Volta Resources.

“Aisha informed that she had been granted a permit by the chief of Akwamu, the same chief who granted Volta Resources their concession.

“Even though I heard that VRL had given its concession to the accused person I later learnt it was not true,” he told the court on Wednesday.

The witness added that Aisha Huang paid him GHC24,000 for his three acre farmland without issuing a receipt.

He further testified that in 2017 he saw about 10 Chinese nationals and other Ghanaians working for Aisha Huang near his farm using excavators and washing plants.

The trial continues as defense lawyers cross-examine the state prosecution’s witness.
