Wollacott expresses confidence in his skills after Charlton Athletic move

Black Stars goalkeeper, Joseph Wollacott, has stated that he believes he can help his new club in multiple facets of the game.

The 25-year-old agreed to a three-year deal with the League One side after a successful campaign at Swindon Town.

In an unveiling video by Charlton Athletic, he stated that he feels he is capable in his position.

“I like to think I can keep the ball out of the back of the net which is the most important thing for me. I have got a good starting position,” he highlighted.

“I like to think I can affect play in not just communication but my position behind as you would say, a sweeper keeper.”

He was named to the League 2 team of the season last season and expressed his pride in the achievement.

Last year, being named to the team of the season was a privilege for me. It’s always nice to get recognised for your performances throughout the season.”

He concluded with his first callup for Ghana which happened in October 2021. He feels it’s a Massive Honour.

“I had my first callup in October for Ghana. That was a massive honour for me and my family. I’m still pinching myself about it now.”

Wollacott played a key role for the Black Stars as they qualified for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
