‘Do or die’ will be our 2024 strategy if I win – Aspiring A/R NDC chairman

Aspiring Ashanti Region Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Evans Amankwaa has subscribed to John Mahama’s ‘Do or die’ comment as he justifies that the former president meant vigilance at the polling stations.

The NDC legal team member explains his strategy into the 2024 elections will be shrouded with the ‘Do or die’ approach if he wins the mandate to lead the NDC in Ashanti Region.

Lawyer Evans Amankwaa whiles speaking on Akoma FM‘s weekend political show Wonsom Saturday, September 11 justified former president Mahama’s comment as he explained that “the figurative speech Mr Mahama made was not in a bad taste because he was alluding to what transpired in the 2020 elections and drew conclusion that the NDC will be more vigilant at the polling stations and we will leave no stone unturned so let’s not take him out of context, he never meant any harm”.

During his ‘Thank You Tour’ in the Bono East Region, Mr Mahama while speaking in an interview on a local radio station in Techiman revealed that “the just ended general elections have taught the NDC lessons so the 2024 elections will be a do-or-die affair at the polling stations”, further adding that “so far as I lead the NDC into the next general elections, we will not resort to the Supreme Court we will make sure the right thing is done at the polling stations”.

Although a section of Ghanaians including some civil society organizations have take a swipe at the former NDC leader as they described his comments as unfortunate and a beat of war drums, others see nothing wrong with it.

However, lawyer Amankwaa, who has disclosed his intentions to contest the Chairmanship position of the NDC in Ashanti Region, has pledged commitment to implement John Mahama’s ‘do or die’ assertion in all his election strategies in the region to ensure NDC massively wins the 2024 elections to restore what he described as “fading economic gains of Ghana that has thrown many into state of depression, hunger and extreme poverty by the incompetent leadership of President Akufo-Addo”.

The NDC in Ashanti Region during the 2020 elections polled 652,962 votes that represented 26.5 percent while their archrivals, the NPP, managed 1,793,629 votes representing 72.8 percent.

Lawyer Evans Amankwaa is of the view that the NDC will claim more than 30 percent votes in the Region if the party’s representatives at the various polling stations adhere to the ‘Do or die’ approach.
