Netherlands Ambassador calls on Media General Group CEO

The Netherlands Ambassador to Ghana, Ron Strikker, has proposed a partnership with media conglomerate Media General, managers of TV3, 3FM, Onua TV, Onua FM, Akoma FM, Connect FM and fastest-growing news portal 3news.com.

The partnership, proposed at a meeting with management members of the 2020 GBA Media Organisation of the Year on Tuesday, June 29, seeks to promote culture in both the Netherlands and Ghana and build the capacity of journalists.

Chief Executive Officer of Media General Beatrice Agyemang said the priority of her organisation is to build the capacity of journalists and as such welcomes the partnership with the European nation to do so.

She added that Media General has always considered human interest stories, especially issues affecting women, children and the deprived in the society, first.

“Primarily in terms of news, we have focused on human interest stories. That has been the drive for us. We go behind the news looking for issues affecting women, affecting children and the deprived in the society. And that has earned us our place.”

In the aspect of promoting culture, Ms Agyemang said infusing the Netherlands beauty pageant ‘Fusing’ into the upcoming ‘Ghana’s Most Beautiful’ reality show to promote both countries’ cultures will be put into consideration.

She added that the firm will most definitely go in for a partnership that will train journalists especially in the aspect of investigative journalism, underscoring that focus on culture exchange with Radio Netherlands to motivate journalists to learn different cultures and ways of reporting will also be prioritised.
