Political desperados firing blank bribery bullet against Akufo-Addo – Baako
The Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako, has shredded the claims by opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been captured on tape taking a $40,000 bribe.
The NDC has often accused the Akufo-Addo administration of supervising corrupt activities and failing in its fight against graft.
In a recent attack, the party is daring President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to submit himself to traditional deity to prove his innocence in a matter in which he is alleged to have received a $40,000 bribe from an individual ostensibly to influence his office.
The party says the president has over the last four years hidden behind Christian rhetoric to defraud the state by superintending over dozens of corrupt deals.
Addressing a press conference in Accra on Tuesday, December 2 to present what the party says are incontrovertible evidence of the president engaged in bribery, former Deputy Finance Minister and MP for Ketu South Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey said the latest revelation confirms his party’s long-held view that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was only deceiving Ghanaians while it parades itself as a saint fighting corruption.
“If President Akufo-Addo actually says he is not corrupt, let him come with me to Nogokpo and see whether he can lie there, he will not.”
But speaking on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo programme Wednesday, December 2, Mr Baako discounted the claims.
“If they want us to discuss political party financing, that is a different argument. But when you talk of bribing a president in order to secure somebody’s job security then you are talking nonsense.
“This is a blank bullet that has been fired by political desperados. It will have no effect. It is fake secret recording recorded in 2016. People should not waste time on that fake thing.”
