Paa Kwesi Fabin resigns as Kotoko coach

Samuel Paa Kwesi Fabin has resigned as coach of Asante Kotoko barely seven months after his appointment.

Fabin was appointed to replace Englishman Steve Polack prior to the start of the 2017/2018 Ghana Premier League.

It was his second spell at the club, having managed the side in 2009/10.

But on Thursday, Fabin tendered in his resignation letter to the club.

“I write without any malice that I am tendering my resignation as the Head Coach of your club Asante Kotoko Football Club effective 13th September, 2018.

“This decision has become necessary because of my personal conviction that it is time to bow out due to circumstances beyond my control.”

He said he is resigning at this time to allow management find a replacement, who will have enough time to familiarise with the team before the resumption of the domestic league.

He thanked the Executive Chairman for “giving me the opportunity to work with him, the management team, the playing body and the supporters for their encouragement during the rough times”.

Management is yet to respond to the letter.

Before returning to the Porcupine Warriors, Fabin had led the national Under-17 soccer team, the Black Starlets, to the last 8 of the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup.
