Judge Raymond Dearie Has Until November 30 To Review The Seized Records In Mar-a-Lago Raid

Judge Raymond Dearie in the Eastern District of New York has been named an independent arbiter in the Mar-a-Lago case against former President Trump.

The Florida-based US district judge Aileen Cannon appointed an experienced Dearie in matters of national security to review approximately 100 documents and serve as a special master in an ongoing criminal investigation against Donald Trump.

Cannon has denied DOJ’s request to continue their review of seized records before Dearie determines whether any documents fall under attorney-client confidentiality and executive privilege.

“The Court does not find it appropriate to accept the Government’sGovernment’s conclusions on these important and disputed issues without further review by a neutral third party in an expedited and orderly fashion,” Cannon said in a ruling.

Dearie was a candidate acceptable to both Trump and DOJ. Judge Raymond Dearie has until November 30, 2020, to review the documents.
