What did Boris Johnson know about allegations against his former Deputy Chief Whip Chris Pincher before he gave him the job in February?

Then yesterday, Downing Street said Boris Johnson was aware of “some” allegations that did not turn into a “formal complaint.”

That Boris Johnson tells lies does not come as a surprise. The British Prime Minister believes that there is no scandal too big he cannot survive by relaying on falsehood.

Lord Simon Mcdonald said today that the Prime Minister is not telling the truth and was briefed in person about the investigation against Chris Pincher and its outcome at the time.

“I think they need to come clean. I think that the language is ambiguous, it is the sort of telling the truth and crossing your fingers at the same time and hoping people are not too forensic in their subsequent questioning, and I think that is not working,” said the former permanent secretary at the Foreign Office.

In a letter to the Parliamentary Standards Commissioner, Lord Simon McDonald said that Johnson’s narrative about not knowing the extent of the allegations against Chris Pincher was “not true.”

Lord Simon McDonald said that a formal complaint against Pincher, similar to the allegations made on June 29, 2022 of inappropriate touching of men in Carlton Club, was filed in summer 2019. As a result, Pincher was not cleared from the allegations and had to apologize for his conduct and promise not to do it again. He did.
