Trump Departs For Hawaii, The First Stop Of His 12 Day Asia-Pacific Tour

President Donald Trump departs on his highly anticipated Asia-Pacific Tour, accompanied by FLOTUS and other officials. First stop, Hawaii.

Early this morning, President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump boarded Air Force One en route to Honolulu, Hawaii, where the president stops before departing on his 12 day Asia-Pacific tour this Saturday.

President Trump boarded the aircraft at 9:16 am, followed by First Lady Melania Trump, White House Chief of Staff John Kelly, and US Trade Representative Bob Lighthizer. As the President embarked the plane, he waved and mouthed something inaudible to the press corps, who were watching from a distance.

Dina Powell, Deputy National Security Adviser, and Matt Pottinger, the top Asia policy staffer on the National Security Council, were also spotted aboard the plane. There are no expected briefings for the duration of the 10-hour flight.

The President arrives in Honolulu, Hawaii later this evening. There, Trump will receive a briefing from US Pacific Command and visit Pearl Harbor in customary presidential fashion.

After Hawaii, Trump will commence his Asia Tour, beginning with Japan on Nov 5. From there, he will proceed to South Korea, China, Vietnam, and the Philippines in that order. Trade policies and the threat of North Korea are expected to dominate the greater part of the dialogue on Trump’s trip.
