Parents in Mubi North urged to present their children for vaccination

The Director Social Welfare Health Education and Women Affairs Mubi North Local Government of Adamawa State, Mall. Mohammed A. Ahmed has called on the general public to send their children to polio vaccination centres, which commenced from 30th November 2017.

The Director made the plea during a sensitization campaign against Measles Diseases in Mubi recently said the exercise affect children from 9 months and below 5 years of age adding that the exercise is free of charge and the vaccine is effective, safe and guaranteed.

He said a child should be vaccinated even if she/he had been vaccinated before, if the duration does not exceed 3 weeks while the exercise is going to be carried out at fixed posts, clinics and designated place  in all the wards of the local government.

The Director further explained that the vaccinators are  health workers with the ward head at every ward attached to them for success of the exercise.

According to him “You hardly get 5 victims of the measles disease in Mubi since the programme started here many years back”.  He urged parents and guardians to cooperate with the vaccinators during the exercise to ensure the eradication of measles diseases in the country.

Also speaking, the representative of National Orientation Agency (NOA) commended the health officials for living above board, and urged people in the area to support their programme to enable them wipe out measle disease in Nigeria and the State in particular.
