FOMWAN Trains over 50 children with disability,women

As part of its corporate social responsibility, the society of Federation of Muslim Women in Nigeria (FOMWAN) in 2017 trained over fifty Educationally disadvantage Children mostly women in various institutions of higher learning in the country.

This was disclosed by the Amirah of FOMWAN Adamawa State Chapter Hajiya Kaltume Abdullahi Abare during an exclusive interview with The Scope correspondent at the Secretariat of the Association recently. She Maintained that the primary responsibility of the Association is to educate, empower, and protect the rights of the children particularly the vulnerable ones in conformity with the laws establishing the Association.

Hajiya Kaltume Abare maintained that the Association which has its branches Nationwide with Abuja and all the twenty one Local Government Areas across the State, has played different roles especially among those affected by insurgency activities such as providing assistance to the needy and as well as providing them with the skill acquisition especially in the fields of bakery, tailoring, knitting among others.

She maintained that the Association as part of empowerment programmes has distributed sewing machines, cash donations, clothing to IDPs, in various IDP centres in the State.

Hajiya Kaltume Abare further revealed as part of the oversight function of the Association, the medical commitment by herself being a medical personnel were the first to diagnose malnutrition among the IDP children living in the Idp Camps and the Association has provided the necessary training on how mothers living in the IDP camps to overcome malnutrition.

The Amirah maintained that its medical committee has trained women living in the IDP Camps on a traditional birth as according child birth could come in at any point in time before getting to the nearest hospital or health centre.

Commenting on the rampant involvement of women in heinous crimes in recent times, which sometimes result to homicide, the Amirah of FOMWAN has condemned the act describing the situation as not only a source of worry but from the Islamic point of view it is forbidden to both married couples to be involved in homicide case even though under whatever circumstance .

While commenting on the upbringing of children under Islamic morale decadence, Hajiya Kaltume Abare advised parents especially to be extra vigilant on the activities of their children especially their day today activities, their play mates and regulate the programmes their children should watch on the television, and above all avoid allowing the under aged to have access to the use of GSM among other things.

The FOMWAN Amirah maintained if all these rules are observed she is optimistic that our children will grow up morally upright. Stressing that parents should also adopt the use of dialogue as a panacea for morale upbringing of the children rather than the application of corporal punishment by some other parents.
She however appreciated the efforts of parents, children, teachers and all the stakeholders of the Association for the necessary support and cooperation she is receiving from them without which according to her the successes recorded wouldn't have been possible and appealed for more support from the stakeholders of the Association.
