Gov Bindow visits Mubi, commensurates with the people

Following the recent Bomb Blast in one of congregational prayer in Mubi which resulted to loss of several innocent lives and injuring many who are currently receiving treatment in various hospitals across the State, calm has returned to Mubi as The Scope finding in the area has observed that residents are beginning to put behind the unfortunate incident.

A cross section of Mubi residents interviewed by The Scope correspondent during a visit to the area have appreciated Governor Bindow for his care, sympathy and assistance especially during their trying moment.

The Mubi residents have said that Governor Bindow has not only proven to them that he is a dependable ally but also a great leader with passion who always cared for his people at all time.

Governor Bindow who during the visit to Mubi commiserated with the people and families of the deceased persons, assured them that State Government will shoulder all their medical bills and wish them a quick recovery.

The Governor while in Mubi appreciated the efforts of the management and staff of the General Hospital Mubi for providing the Victims with quality service as well as Council Chairmen of Mubi 
North and South and the general public for their assistance to the victims particularly donating blood which was central to their survival.

Governor Bindow while in Mubi also commiserated with the Emir of Mubi, Alh. Abubakar Isa Ahmadu over the tragedy.

Responding to the Governor and his entourage the Emir of Mubi described the unfortunate incident as very sad and urged people to take solace in God, calling on Government to take more proactive measures to forestall future occurrence.

Consequently upon the visit,Governor Bindow organized a town hall meeting for the people of Northern zone which took place in Mubi town.
 
The aim of the meeting was for all stakeholders in the area to brainstorm on issues bordering security problem bedeviling the State.

Addressing the gathering during the meeting Governor Bindow said in as much as government and security agencies are doing their role to guard the citizens, the people too should see security as everybody's business and cooperate with the security agencies to get rid of bad eggs among them.

The Governor used the opportunity to called on the people to participate in the ongoing voter registration exercise being conducted nationwide by the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC).

He noted that the exercise is very critical to our democracy particularly to the people of the zone who lost their voter's cards during the insurgents attack.
 
Also speaking during the occasion, the Brigade Commander of 23rd Armed Brigade Yola, Brigadier General Bello Muhammed advised people to cooperate with security agencies and get rid of bad elements residing in their vicinity.

He said that all those bad elements terrorizing and attacking the people are within the community as nobody comes from far away to perpetrate evil. He noted that unless and until the people exposed the bad elements by refusing to harbor them fighting the insurgents would remain a mirage.
 
Meanwhile in a related development the Principal Medical Officer (PMO) incharge of Mubi General Hospital Dr. Ezra Sakawa has confirmed to newsmen that the hospital had carried out an emergency surgical operation on twenty five victims of bomb blast.

Dr. Ezra further said that the hospital has received about fifty three casualties of the bomb blast out of the number, five died in the emergency unit of the hospital before been attended to, while another three persons later died while been attended to.

The PMO however thanked the residents of Mubi and the general public for their prompt response to donate blood to the victims of the bomb blast.
 
Meanwhile the people of Mubi North Local Government and families of victims of the recent bomb blast at Shuwa mosque in Dazala Arhankunu ward of Mubi have commended the Chairman Mubi North Local Government, Hon. Ahmed Musa Bello, ADSEMA, NEMA, Red Cross Rescue team for quick intervention and concern shown to the victims of the ugly incident.

In Mubi The Scope correspondent reported that at least (20) twenty people were reported dead several and others injured in Shuwa mosque bomb blast during morning prayers in Tuesday.

A cross section of people and victims who spoke to The Scope at the venue of the incident said that with the quick intervention of NGOs many lives have been saved, stating that the victims were rushed to Mubi General Hospital while the corpses were taken to hospital.

The Imam of Shuwa mosque Mallam Mohammed Zainsheltun said the bomb blast was one of the worst ever witnessed in the area that claimed about twenty (20) lives, but with the timely intervention of government the situation was not as we anticipated, he said.

According to him, “After the bomb blast you could see many people on the ground inside the mosque injured as we that God save escape dead and other residents in the area were contemplating how to take them to hospital.

Some of our people here use their personal vehicles and took some of the victims to the hospital with the intervention of government and that of NGOs it had gone a long way in saving many lives”.

When asked whether he was affected he responded “Of course these bomb blast affected me because as I speak to you there is remaining smokes in my chest we live the mosque with our knees on the ground and some of the death people are families and neigbours.

Another resident of the area said his brother Alh. Saleh Abdulrahman and three (3) of his children were among the victims but they loss the children and their father was rushed to FMC Yola for treatment.

At the General Hospital Mubi the victims were receiving medical treatment from medical expert, as Deputy Governor Engr. Martin Babale, Commissioner of Health Haj. Fatima Atiku Abubakar and other government officials visited and sympathized with them over the ugly incident.

In his own part the hospital Secretary Mubi General Hospital, Alh. Halilu Abba said that forty eight (48) victims have been admitted to the hospital, fifteen among the victims were referred to FMC Yola and eight (8) died while the remaining victims are responding to treatment in various hospitals across the State.

The Secretary expressed his happiness over the assistance victims received from the Government especially Mubi North Local Government and other NGOs.

The bomb blast launch in Mubi zone and attack of innocent people has bring back the memory of Boko Haram attack in the mind of the people living in the State.
