Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja played a prank on the audience at Chepauk Stadium by going out to bat before the crowd favorite, MS Dhoni, during their match against KKR. On Monday, April 8.

Jadeja came out of the CSK dug-out to tease Dhoni’s supporters before returning and allowing the former captain to onto the field.

Since the game was already won, Dhoni, who has been batting at No. 7 and No. 8 this season, moved up to No. 5 against Kolkata Knight Riders. Ruturaj Gaikwad continued his unbroken streak at 67, and Dhoni struck one run off of three balls to help CSK defeat KKR by seven wickets.

In the now-viral video, it can be seen that after Shivam Dube was dismissed, Jadeja was seen getting ready to bat. He walked out with his bat and helmet but after taking a few steps back, the senior player moved back to let Dhoni to make his way out to bat in front of the energetic crowd at Chepauk Stadium. In just three innings this season, Dhoni has scored 39 runs without being out in any of the matches.

Fans are enjoying Jadeja’s prank and they are also appreciating his kind gesture as he understood crowd’s emotion for Dhoni and let him go for batting.

Meanwhile, Jadeja was named the player of the match because of his outstanding performance with the ball, which saw him take 3 wickets for 18 runs in just 4 overs.

After receiving the award Jadeja said, he always enjoys his bowling on these kind of tracks. He was just looking to bowl in good areas. He said, he has practiced a lot at Chepauk Stadium. It takes time for visiting team to settle down and plan something. Difficult for them to come here and identify the surface. They know the conditions very well, he said.

With their win over KKR, CSK now has three wins out of five games,  all of which came at home ground.
