AAP to move Supreme Court challenging the Delhi High Court order that rejected CM Arvind Kejriwal’s plea against his arrest

Delhi minister and AAP spokesperson Saurabh Bharadwaj on Tuesday said that the Aam Aadmi Party will move to Supreme Court challenging the Delhi High Court order that rejected Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s plea against his arrest. Bharadwaj said that they respect the institution of the High Court but they respectfully submit that the party does not agree with its order and will move to Supreme Court against it.

Advocate Rishikesh Kumar, Kejriwal’s counsel told the media that they have challenged the illegal arrest of Arvind Kejriwal. The High Court said that the remand order is legal and they said that they had the ground to arrest him. Kumar said the AAP is waiting for the order to come. He said once the detailed order is uploaded, they will challenge it before the Supreme Court as early as possible.

The case is based on money laundering and corruption in the implementation and formulation of the Delhi government’s excise policy for 2021-22, which does not exist now. He added, the Aam Aadmi Party will go to the Supreme Court and they have full faith in the Supreme Court that just like Sanjay Singh got relief from the Supreme Court.  Similarly Arvind Kejriwal will also get relief from the Supreme Court.

Kejriwal’s plea on Tuesday was rejected by the Delhi High Court. The court said that Enforcement Directorate is in possession of enough proof which led them to the arrest Delhi Chief Minister. It added that the delays caused by Kejriwal have also impacted those who were already in custody. The Delhi High Court said the petitioner has been arrested in a money laundering case & the courts have to consider the same with regards to the law in the absence of timing of arrest. The Court added that Kejriwal would have known when Lok Sabha elections would be declared and he would then have been very busy.
