Nag Ashwin’s Film Kalki 2898 AD, starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan, was scheduled to release in theaters on May 9. However, on May 13 Lok Sabha elections in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana is scheduled to take place and due to this it is likely to impact film’s release . 

According to a report, the film will now be released on May 30. The decision was made by the filmmakers to delay the movie’s premiere by a few weeks in order to guarantee a successful run in theaters, the report said.

The decision will benefit the film globally as well, as May 9 is also the release date of the Hollywood production The Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. Additionally, according to the website, distributors have been notified by the film’s makers about the revised release date.

However, despite speculations that have been circulating for weeks, the makers have not yet released an official statement. It’s not true that a release date has been finalized because the makers are still discussing when the film should be released, a close source from the film’s crew said. Although the elections have placed a wrench in the works, no one is certain when the movie will be released. The makers will announce things themselves once they are clear.

The May 13 Lok Sabha elections in TS and AP were announced in March, which will negatively impact Kalki 2898 AD’s box office collection. Since then, many have been wondering if the movie would open on schedule or if it will be delayed. Since then, though, neither an official statement nor a press conference have been made by the makers about this issue.

The makers of the Neha Sshetty and Vishwak Sen film Gangs of Godavari said clearly that the film will not be released till after the elections. Its May 17 release date was disclosed as soon as the polling dates were announced.

Kalki 2898 AD is a sci-fi film, which takes place across 6000 years, starting with the Mahabharata and ending in 2898 AD.
