Dry days: Liquor shops to remain closed from April to June on these days in Delhi before elections

The Delhi government has issued an order about Dry Days in the national capital due to the approaching Lok Sabha elections and festivals. The directives state that dry days will be observed starting at 6 p.m. on April 24 and ending until April 26.

Delhi’s borders with Uttar Pradesh and other states imply that the districts of Ghaziabad, Gautam Budh Nagar, and Baghpat in the National Capital Territory of Delhi will all be within a 100-meter radius during the dry days.

The Delhi’s Excise department order reads as, the licensees shall not be entitled to any compensation on account of any changes effected in the above list. All the licensees shall execute this order at some conspicuous place of their licensed premises. The business premises of a licensee shall be kept closed on dry day, the order said.

It is important to note that on April 11, Id-ul-Fitr, April 17, Ram Navami, April 21, Mahavir Jayanti, May 23, Buddha Purnima, and June 17, there will be dry days in Delhi.

Meanwhile, voting for the 80 constituencies in Uttar Pradesh will take place in  seven phases, from April 19 to June 1. The results of the voting will be announced on June 4.
