World Cup 2023: Mohammad Shami says he practiced on pitches at his farmhouse in his village

Indian team’s fast bowler Mohammad Shami played his first match in the cricket World Cup 2023 on Sunday. Shami took five wickets for 54 runs in ten overs against New Zealand in Dharamsala. India won the match against New Zealand by four wickets with 12 balls remaining. Shami won the man of the match award for his explosive performance.

The Indian team made two changes in the playing eleven against New Zealand. Surya kumar Yadav and Mohammad Shami  were included in place of Shardul Thakur and Hardik Pandya. Shami was appointed the first change bowler. Shami bowled Will Young on the very first ball of his spell. After this Shami took a five wicket haul and created havoc for the New Zealand team. Shami shattered many records in the process.

Speaking to the media Shami said how he made his preparation for the World Cup special . Shami said he had preapared a pitch at his farmhouse in his village. He revealed practicing on the pitch helped him a lot. Shami added this was the main reason why his line and length was accurate and he was able to achieve success as soon as he got the chance.

Shami  said he was completely focused on his line and length. This strategy was most effective on this type of pitch. He kept hold of his tappa and got a lot of benefit from it. Shami said he was happy with his performance.

India defeated New Zealand on Sunday and took the top position in the points table of World Cup 2023. This marks the Indian team’s fifth consecutive win in the tournament. The Indian team has come very close to securing a place in the semi finals. Team India now has a good break  and will play the next match against the defending champions England on Sunday
