34 special trains to run from October to December during Diwali, Chhath, check details

Indian Railways has introduced 34 special trains starting from Wednesday to clear the festive season rush of passengers planning to travel to their home destinations. As per the Indian Railways, the special trains will make 377 trips, 351 towards the eastern part of the country and 26 towards the northern region between October 18 and December 11.

Shobhan Chaudhuri, General Manager, Northern Railways said that besides these 34 trains, additional coaches will be added to the existing 69 trains and in all the Northern Railway will create 5.5 lakh additional berths and seats considering the increase in passenger movement during the festive session.

Reports stated that these special trains will connect major destinations across the country like Delhi/New Delhi/Anand Vihar, Patna, Chhapra, Jogwani, Saharsa, Jaynagar, Katihar, Guwahati, Darbhanga, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Barauni, Raxaul, Muzaffarpur, Gaya, Lucknow, Kolkata, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, Amritsar, Saharanpur, Ambala. 

The details of special trains would be available for passengers from the enquiry offices. According to Shobhan Chaudhuri, additional arrangements have been made in view of increased demand during this period. Alongside running special trains, special ticket windows and operationalising all existing windows to prevent long queues at booking counters will be done.

Apart from the aforementioned trains, the Indian Railways also announced the start of special trains connecting Patna, Gaya and Jaynagar especially for the Chhath Puja festival from Delhi to Bihar. A superfast special train from Patna-Anand Vihar Terminal (03255/03256) will depart from Patna every Wednesday and Sunday at 10:20 PM between November 23 and December 10. On the return journey, it will depart from Anand Vihar Terminal every Friday and Monday at 11:30 PM from November 24 to December 11.

Second, another superfast special train from Patna-Anand Vihar Terminal (02391/02392) will leave Patna every Saturday at 10:20 PM between November 25 and December 9. On the way back, it will leave from Anand Vihar Terminal every Sunday at 11:30 PM from November 26 to December 10.

Additionally, a special train from Gaya-Anand Vihar Terminal (03635/03636) will commence its journey from Gaya every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 2:15 PM between November 20 and December 8. On the return journey, it will set off from Anand Vihar Terminal every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 7:00 AM from November 21 to December 9.

A special train from Jaynagar-Anand Vihar Terminal (05557/05558) will also start its journey from Jaynagar every Tuesday at 6:00 AM between November 21 and December 5. On the return journey, it will depart from Anand Vihar Terminal every Wednesday at 7:30 AM from November 22 to December 6.
