Jasprit Bumrah is in top form as he rattled the Afghanistan lower order, taking four crucial wickets and giving away 39 runs in his 10 overs. This helped India to restrict Afghanistan to 272/8 in fifty overs. Azmatullah Omarzai and Hashmatullah Shahidi scored half centuries each and formed a 121 run partnership for the fourth wicket.

This partnership helped in rescuing the Afghanistan team and taking them to a respectable total of 272 runs. Bumrah got Ibrahim Zadran,Najibullah Zadran and Mohammad Nabi. The fourth wicket Bumrah took was of Rashid Khan. Shardul and Hardik got rid of Rahmat Shah and Gurbaz. Earlier Afghanistan won the toss and opted to bat first. Rohit Sharma said India wanted to bowl first keeping the due factor in mind. Rohit added the team management had decided to replace Ravichandran Ashwin with Shardul Thakur.

The Indian team will try to keep up its winning momentum against Afghanistan in New Delhi. The Indian team fought hard to win a tough match against Australia. This was possible due to the fighting Knocks from Virat Kohli (85) and KL Rahul (97*). Shubman Gill has not travelled with the Indian team and is still in the process of recovery from dengue.

 Ishan Kishan is expected to replace Shubman Gill in his absence although he got out on zero against Australia. The pitch at the Arun Jaitely stadium suits the batsman which was seen in the South Africa Vs Sri Lanka match.

India and Afghanistan have played against each other on three occasions in the ODI format. India has a clear advantage over Afghanistan as India have won two times while the third game was tied. The Afghanistan team will look for its first victory against the Indian team. Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan open the innings for India. These two will look forward to give a better performance after they failed to score against  Australia on Sunday.
