Actors Ashutosh Rana and Bidita Bag are set to return with a courtroom drama Lakeerein which is scheduled to be released on Novembe 3. The drama deals with the sensitive issue of marital rape and consent within marriage. Lakeerein shows Kavya’s stuggle as she seeks justice against her husband Vivek Damodar Agnihotri (Gaurav Chopra).

Kavya’s battle for justice is the major theme of the drama. It emphasizes on the societal and legal hurdles that victims of marital rape have to face in their lives. The story is set in Uttar Pradesh. Lakeerein shows the scars of marital rape not only on her life but also on the life of Naseema and her friend Anita. Both of them have experienced similar crimes in their lives.

In the courtroom Bidita Bag’s character Advocate Geeta Bishvaas fights the case against Ashutosh Rana’s character, Advocate Dudhari Singh. The show also stars Ali Mohammad, Anil Rastogi, Mukesh Bhatt, Saharsh Shukkla, Rajesh Jais, Aman Verma, Gaurav Chopra and Tia Bajpai in important roles.

Durgesh Pathak said Lakeerein is more than just a film. He said it is a call for change. Pathak added the show advocates for the recognition of marital rape as a crime. The film questions the morality of India’s legal system. The drama challenges the norms set by the society.

The film is an eye opener which prompts the viewers to  to reflect on the importance of consent and the need to provide protection and justice to married women who face such dreadful acts in their marriages. Lakeerien has been directed by Durgesh Pathak. The film has been produced by Black Pearl movies, BTC Multimedia productions, banner of Image and Creation.

The film has been distributed by Reliance entertainment. The film is scheduled to be released on November 3, 2023.Variety of comments started coming on the post on Instagram.
