Aam Aadmi Party workers and supporters who were protesting over the arrest of MP Sanjay Singh were arrested by the police in Mumbai on Thursday. In another setback for AAP, MP Sanjay Singh was arrested in a money laundering case connected to the investigation into the Delhi liquor policy. 

In Delhi, several Aam Aadmi Party workers and supporters gathered outside the party headquarters. The protesters raised slogans hailing party leader Sanjay Singh. Dependra Pathak, Special Commissioner of Police asserted that they have made proper arrangements and that there are enough police personnel as they do not want law and order to deteriorate at any cost.

Notably, this is the third major arrest from the Arvind Kejriwal led Aam Aadmi party. Speaking on the matter, the AAP leaders accused the Centre of trying to silence its MP Sanjay Singh by arresting him. The party leaders challenged the BJP-led Union government to make public any evidence they have against him.

Addressing a press conference, senior AAP leader Atishi claimed that more than 500 officers of the ED and CBI conducted raids at various locations linked to AAP leaders in the last 15 months but they haven’t found any single evidence against them. She further challenged that if BJP found any evidence against Sanjay Singh, they should make it public or quit politics. 

Meanwhile, BJP leaders staged a protest against the AAP government in Delhi at Rajghat, a day after Sanjay Singh’s arrest in an excise policy case. BJP Leader Bansuri Swaraj claimed that Sanjay Singh’s arrest is very obvious as Dinesh Arora accused in Delhi excise policy scam has claimed that Sanjay Singh organised the meeting between him and Arvind Kejriwal. 

Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva noted that their MLAs and MPs have organised a Prarthana Sabha at Rajghat to pray for Delhi so that the corrupt rule of the  AAP government ends in the national capital.
