In a horrific incident, a man killed his 14-month-old child in Karnataka’s Raichur district. The man felt that the child would hamper his chances of remarriage, according to officials concerned with the matter. The accused was identified as 32-year-old Mahantesh.

According to reports, the 32-year-old confessed to the police that he committed the crime. The accused is a resident of Kanasavi village in Lingasugur taluk. The accused, Mahantesh asserted that his wife had an affair and he wanted to go for a second marriage. He thought that the child from the first wife would be a hurdle.

Reports state that he killed the child and hid the dead body beneath the small boulders in the village. After a missing case of the child was registered, the police suspected and eventually grilled Mahantesh.

Mahantesh, who also happens to be the father of the deceased child, maintained at first that he burnt the body. Later, after three days he showed the place where he hid the child’s body. The police have recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem. As per latest reports, Mudgal police are investigating the case.

Earlier on August 5, a woman was arrested from Karnataka’s Bengaluru for killing her four-year-old mentally challenged daughter by throwing her from the fourth floor of a building. The accused was identified as Sushma Bharadwaj. The unfortunate incident took place in the limits of Sampangniramanagar police station in Bengaluru. 

Speaking about the matter, police informed that the accused Sushma Bhardwaj has also tried to kill herself after throwing her child, but was rescued by the neighbours. The accused arrest came following a complaint against her husband Kiran.

CCTV footage of the incident showed the accused walking on the balcony with her daughter and then throwing herEarlier, Sushma had tried to abandon her daughter at a railway station.
