Delhi: More than 5 metro stations defaced with Pro-Khalistan slogans ahead of G20 Summit, pics surface online

In Delhi, more than five Metro Stations were defaced with Pro-Khalistan slogans by Sikh For Justice (SFJ) ahead of the G20 Summit which is scheduled to be held on September 9 and 10 in the national capital.

The Delhi Police on Sunday said that the SFI had released raw footage of Delhi Metro Stations where slogans like Delhi Banega Khalistan and Khalistan Zindabad were written on its wall. SFJ activists were present in multiple metro stations in Delhi from Shivaji Park to Punjabi Bagh with Pro-Khalistan slogans.

The slogans on the walls of the metro stations have surfaced online. Legal action is being taken, police said.

A case has been registered under section 153 A, section 505 and the Defacement Act, said Ram Gopal Naik, DCP Metro.

A senior Delhi Metro Rail Corporation official has expressed his concern and indicated a law and order situation. He further said to cooperate with the Delhi Police.

Delhi Police shared the pictures in which slogans are seen inscribed on the walls of Metro stations, reading Delhi Banega Khalistan and Khalistan Zindabad.

The police officer said Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) also released raw footage of Delhi Metro stations which were defaced with pro-Khalistan slogans.

Suspected SFJ activists defaced multiple Metro stations in Delhi from Shivaji Park to Punjabi Bagh with pro-Khalistan slogans, the officer added.

On the day of the carcade rehearsal by Delhi Police to Pragati Maidan for the G20 Summit, the incident occurred.

The police have stated that traffic is being regulated in multiple locations from 9am to 12:30pm to aid in rehearsals.

The places where traffic being regulated are Sardar Patel Marg-Panchsheel Marg, Teen Murti Marg, Barakhamba Road traffic signal, Janpath-Kartavya Path, Vivekanand Marg, Lodhi Road flyover, Shanti Van Chowk, Joseph Tito Marg-Siri Fort Road, Press Enclave Road-Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg, C-Hexagon, Mathura Road, and Saleem Garh Bypass. The police have asked commuters to plan their journeys accordingly.

Commuters might encounter traffic on these routes and intersections. Motorists are urged to remain patient, obey traffic laws and road etiquette, and comply with the directions of traffic police personnel stationed at all crossroads.
