Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare SP Singh Baghel delivered a keynote address at the Swadesh Conclave 2023, highlighting significant national achievements. Asserting on, he said India will be the number one economy in the world by 2047.

He emphasized that Chandrayaan-3’s impending lunar landing marks a pioneering milestone, positioning it as a monumental accomplishment. Baghel underscored the paramount importance of the Ayushman card scheme, which reigns supreme among various developmental initiatives. He pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s personal encounter with poverty ignited his earnest commitment to welfare programs for the underprivileged.

Baghel further elucidated that the Ayushman Yojana has greatly impacted 45 crore individuals, transcending it to become the most pivotal scheme of the century. Reflecting on the healthcare sector, he noted that the transformation is evident as the country has advanced from having merely 7 AIIMS hospitals before 2014 to a robust count of 22 at present. In a resolute stance, Baghel disclosed the government’s ambition to eliminate Tuberculosis from India by 2025.

Ayushman Bharat is National Health Protection Scheme, which aims to cover over 10 crore poor and vulnerable families (approximately 50 crore beneficiaries) providing coverage upto 5 lakh rupees per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization. Ayushman Bharat, a National Health Protection Mission had subsumed with the centrally sponsored schemes such as Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY) and the Senior Citizen Health Insurance Scheme (SCHIS), as per the government data.

Bhagel urged influencers to talk about Jan Aushadhi Yojana atleast once a day.  Influencers are passionate, he added. In September 2015, the Jan Aushadhi Scheme was revamped as Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Yojana (PMJAY). In November, 2016, to give further impetus to the scheme, it was again renamed as Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP). Accordingly, ensuring the availability of quality medicines at affordable prices to all has been a key objective of the Government.
