Jamnagar: Spy camera discovered in Punjab National Bank’s women’s toilet

An employee of Punjab National Bank situated in Jamnagar has been accused of installing a concealed Camera within the women’s toilet. The incident led to a complaint being filed against Akhilesh Saini by a female colleague at the Panch B division police station on August 14, citing violation of IPC section 354C.

According to the complainant, who works at the Dared bank’s branch, she discovered a hole in the restroom wall last week. Upon closer inspection, she uncovered a hidden camera placed within the opening. During this time, the bank manager was absent, leaving Akhilesh Saini in charge. The woman informed Saini about the discovery and urged him to report the incident to the police. However, Saini confessed to his actions, expressed remorse, and requested her not to escalate the matter.

Despite the accused’s attempt to settle the issue, the complainant was disturbed by the presence of the spy camera in her workplace restroom, leading to emotional distress. Further revelations indicated that this was not the first instance; the accused had previously installed a camera as well. This prompted the complainant to take legal action.

Presently, Akhilesh Saini is out of the state due to bank holidays, but authorities are planning his imminent arrest. The police, led by PSI MM Mori from Jamnagar Panchkoshi B Division, intervened to ensure women’s safety. They confiscated the hidden camera from the women’s restroom and initiated a comprehensive investigation. Additional inquiries were conducted, and a formal record (panchnama) of the incident was prepared.

Akhilesh Saini, who presently resides in the Yamunanagar area of the city and hails from Haryana, has been charged under IPC section 354(c) at Jamnagar’s Panchkoshi B Division police station. The charge pertains to his alleged installation of a camera in the women’s restroom with the intent to capture videos and images of the bank’s female employees. The police have taken possession of the camera and are in the process of transferring it to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for further examination. Simultaneously, efforts are underway to locate the accused individual who held the managerial position.
