Akshay Kumar is now officially a citizen of India. He uploaded a photo of his official government documents on his social media account as evidence of the same. It is known that Akshay was once a Canadian citizen and this has led to criticism from certain groups of people.

Akshay shared a document on Twitter that listed him as Akshay Hariom Bhatia. He wrote, Dil aur citizenship, dono Hindustani, to the tweet. He also wished everyone Happy Independence Day and said Jai Hind. The people who admired him congratulated him and also wished him for Independence Day.

The 55-year-old actor once said in an interview, I am still an Indian regardless of my Canadian passport. He also said, he is primarily Indian. The actor said, since receiving his passport nine years ago, he has lived here. I’m not going to get into why, what happened, why my films weren’t doing well, chalo woh theek hai, Akshay said.

During the interview he also said, yes, I applied for it in 2019, as I had said. Then a severe pandemic came in 2020, causing a 2- to 2.5-year shutdown of everything. He said, his letter of renunciation is here, and his entire passport will be arriving soon. What do I do, he continued, I didn’t bring the pandemic.

Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar is enjoying the success of his recent releases which also stars Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam in pivotal roles. Despite being released with Gadar 2, the film is getting good reviews and also performing well on boxoffice.

In addition, he has the yet-to-be-titled Hindi adaptation of Soorarai Pottru, which is scheduled to open in theatres on September 1. Radhika Madan and Paresh Rawal play important roles in the film as well.

He will co-star with Tiger Shroff in the action thriller Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, which is scheduled to open in theatres on Eid 2024.

Riteish Deshmukh and Akshay will team up once more for the fifth installment of their smash comedy series Housefull. He might possibly appear in the much-awaited Hera Pheri 3.
