In a video that went viral on social media, a Gujarat Women Cop can be seen carrying an infant as Cyclone Biparjoy slammed the state. The mother who gave birth to the child 4 days ago in Gujarat’s Barda Dungar was shifted to a safe place by the state police. Gujarat’s Barda Dungar was hit by the ‘very severe’ cyclonic storm Biparjoy. 

The video which is taken from a local news channel was shared by Gujarat Minister of Forest and Environment Mulu Ayar Bera. The video shows a woman police personnel carrying a newborn in her arms while the mother and several other women from the village can be seen walking along to safer areas. 

Gujarat Minister of Forest and Environment Mulu Ayar Bera, who represents the Bhanwad constituency in state assembly tweeted that Bhanwad’s administration is vigilant to ensure security through the service. The Director General of Police, Gujarat retweeted the video and wrote that if people are with the Gujarat police then they are in safe hands. 

As of now, cyclone Biparjoy has claimed the lives of two people and injured 22 others. The electric poles and trees were uprooted as the very severe cyclone made landfall in Gujarat on Thursday. According to the latest report, the cyclone is likely to weaken into a depression this evening over Rajasthan.

Private forecasting company Skymer predicted that the cyclone has turned into a very slow moving, excessively long storm that has gone past midnight. It added that the cyclone has not withered even after six hours, though storms weaken quickly. The forecasting company further asserted that the wind speed has declined to 80-85 kmph, which is still very strong and that weakening will be a slow process. 

Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) noted that the intensity of the cyclone Biparjoy has weakened from a ‘very severe’ category to ‘severe’ category after the landfall.
