Bharat Jodo Yatra attracts massive participation in Karnataka, NCP chief Sharad Pawar likely to join in Maharashtra

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has grabbed huge media attention through his Bharat Jodo Yatra in Karnataka. Reports said that lakhs of people joined the Padyatra to support and march along with Rahul Gandhi.

The Congress informed on Twitter that the Bharat Jodo Yatra has resumed from Pochkatte to Hiriyur in Karnataka. Their feet have become sore but their spirits remain unwavering.

Karnataka Congress wrote on Twitter that Bharat Jodo Yatra was meant to provide an alternative to the politics of fear, bigotry and prejudice and to the economics of livelihood destruction, increasing unemployment and growing inequalities.

The party leaders and workers today observed a five-minute condolence meeting for the late Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav. He passed away on Monday morning at around 8.30 am at Gurugram’s Medanta Hospital.

Meanwhile, the Congress sources have confirmed that the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar would join the Padyatra in Maharashtra.

On October 7, a controversy emerged when a Bharat Jodo Yatra poster featuring Hindutva ideologue Vinayak Damodar Savarkar was placed in the Mandya area of the state. It featured V D Savarkar along with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Karnataka Congress president DK Shivkumar.

Sharing this poster on Twitter, senior BJP leader Amit Malviya wrote that after Kerala, Congress put up Savarkar’s posters in Karnataka. It was finally dawning on the Congress that Savarkar’s contributions and worldview defined today’s India. And it was Nehru, who was a coward, unable to take the hardships in Nabha jail, who wrote an apology to the British.

Bharat Jodo Yatra began from Kanyakumari on September 8, 2022. Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said that this yatra would be a transformational movement in Indian politics. This would be the longest Padayatra by any political party. It would fight against social polarization and the over-centralisation of power.
