September marks the beginning of the festival season which means it will affect the working days for banks. Last month, banks were closed for 18 days across India as festivals like Muharram, Raksha Bandhan, Janmashtmi, and others kicked in.

In September, banks will remain closed for 21 days across different states. If you are someone who has to visit a bank, check the complete list of holidays before your visit to avoid any inconvenience.

The Reserve Bank of India has divided holidays into three categories, Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act and Real-Time Gross Settlement Holiday, Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act, and Banks’ Closing of Accounts.

Apart from weekends in September, banks will be closed for a few regional festivals in different states. It should be noted that bank holidays vary from state to state. In September, banks in Kerala will remain closed for 8 days due to Onam.
