Sawan, also known as Shravan, is one of the auspicious months in the Hindu religion as this month is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Sawan falls in the fifth month of the Hindu lunar calendar. During this time, devotees go to the temple on Mondays, also known as Shravan Somvar, and offer Lord Shiva milk, flowers, holy water, and bael leaves. All Tuesdays, or Mangalwar, are dedicated to Goddess Parvati. During this month, Tuesday fasting is referred to as Mangal Gauri Vrat in Drik Panchang.

This year, the holy month of Sawan will start on July 14 and will end on August 12. The first Shravan Somwar will be observed on July 18. The auspicious month coincides with a number of Hindu festivals, including Naag Panchami and Krishna Janmashtami. The end of Sawan is celebrated with festivals like Teej and Raksha Bandhan.
