The highly-anticipated teaser of Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan is finally out on Friday after its leak on social media. The film stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Chiyaan Vikram, Trisha, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Jayaram, and Parthiban in the lead roles.

Ponniyin Selvan’s teaser was released in five Indian languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. The film will hit the theatres on September 30.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who plays Nandini, in the magnum opus looks smashing in the teaser. She comes face to face with Trisha who plays Kundavai in the film. The teaser also shows Vikram as Aditya Karikalan, Karthi as Vandhiyathevan, and Jayam Ravi as Arulmmozhi Varman.

The epic historical drama is written, directed, and co-produced by Mani Ratnam, under his production studio Madras Talkies, along with Allirajah Subaskaran under the banner Lyca Productions.

The film is based on the struggles within the Chola empire. The film is set in the up roaring period before Ponniyin Selvan, the son of the Kaveri river, also known as Rajaraja Chola, who went on to become one of the greatest emperors in Indian history.

Soon after the teaser was dropped, fans shared their reactions to it. One user applauded Chiyaan Vikram while others hailed Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s look in Ponniyin Selvan.
