90’s films always hold a special place in our hearts. Be it the story or the cast, those films take us down memory lane. However, fans become excited when they hear that their classic films are getting a sequel. One such movie, starring Amitabh Bachchan and Govinda in the 1998 film, is getting a sequel. Fans couldn’t resist their excitement when Ali Abbas Zafar stated that a sequel to Bade Miyan Chote Miyan is in the works.

What makes it even more intriguing are the actors that have been chosen as the main characters in the upcoming film. But recently, the news of shelving Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff starrer has been doing the rounds. However, calling the rumours baseless, director Ali Abbas Zafar said the film is very much on track and is currently in pre-production.

Quashing the rumours, Zafar said they’re in the midst of pre-production right now. I’m not sure where these rumours are originating. Months of pre-production are needed for a film of this scale. We’ll start shooting in the UK at the end of this year or early next year, he added.

The rumours of the shelving of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan were sparked after reality personality Kamaal R Khan, aka KRK, tweeted, Producer, and director Ali Abbas Zafar has decided not to make the film #bademiyanchotemiyan with Akshay and Tiger. It is the 4th film of Akshay Kumar which has been shelved after the disastrous result of his film Samrat Prithviraj, he said.

A source close to the film’s development told an entertainment portal that Zafar and his creative team intend to make Bade Miyan Chote Miyan one of Bollywood’s biggest action thrillers. The film’s budget is expected to be around Rs 120 crore, making it the most expensive Akshay Kumar film to date.

According to the source, the director is working on the pre-production phase and developing stunt scenes with Akshay and Tiger in mind. Despite the production costing roughly Rs 120 crore, the two actors and the director are receiving fees of around Rs 200 to 210 crore each.

The movie is set to have an overall budget of Rs 350 crore, making it one of the costliest Hindi films to date.
