Akshay Kumar Starrer Prithviraj has been stirring up controversy ever since it announced its release date. Recently, the makers of the historical film changed its name to Samrat Prithviraj after being slammed by Shree Rajput Karni Sena. Yash Raj Films decided to rename the film and said they did not intend to hurt any religious sentiments after a Rajasthan-based organization filed a PIL to add Samrat before Prithviraj’s name as a matter of respect to the 12th-century king.

The Karni Sena, which had earlier disrupted the release of the 2018 film Padmaavat, has also threatened to boycott the film in Rajasthan if their demands are not met.

After the name change row, CBFC has also asked the makers to cut and modify some dialogues in order to get a U/A certificate. The examining committee demanded that the makers add a disclaimer in the film stating that the filmmakers or any person involved with this film do not encourage or promote the acts of Johar, Sati, or any such practice.

The committee also asked for changes in the dialogues in four places. The word haran was replaced with waran. Nana was removed and replaced with sage while kabza was changed to hamla. In the end slate, the word antim was deleted and mahaan was inserted in its place.

The film Prithviraj, directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi, stars Akshay Kumar as King Prithviraj Chauhan of the Chauhan dynasty and is based on the First Battle of Tarain, in which he confronted Muhammad Ghori of the Ghurid dynasty. Manushi Chillar, the former Miss World, will play Sanyogita alongside Akshay Kumar in her Bollywood debut. Sanjay Dutt, Manav Vij, Sonu Sood, and Ashutosh Rana are among the other actors.  The film will be released on June 3 in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
