Budget 2022: Middle Class memes take over Twitter after no Income Tax change

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday did not announce any new changes in tax slabs for personal income tax category in the Budget 2022.

Individual taxpayers, who contribute almost 35-40% of direct tax revenues, had been expecting some income tax relief to offset the economic damage caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, but, no significant change was announced

As Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget 2022 on Tuesday, tweeple kept themselves busy with creating hilarious memes that soon sent the internet into an overdrive.

 Hashtags #Budget2022 and #IncomeTax are the top trends on Twitter but the internet, however, is having a field day sharing ‘Middle Class’ memes as the phrase also occupied a top spot on the trends list.

Tweeple was disappointed and expressed their chagrin with memes as the salaried class got no tax concessions. The twitter users flooded with memes imagining the expectations of the middle class janta of the country.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented her fourth Budget days before the polling in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa and Manipur.

Apart from this, what broke the heart of people who invested in cryptocurrency was that from now on there will 30 per cent tax deduction on cryptocurrency as soon as this was announced. Social media users started sharing memes.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also announced that a digital rupee will be introduced by the Reserve Bank of India in 2022-23.

However, the Tax slabs remain unchanged, but taxpayers can now file updated income tax returns within two years in a one-time window.
