Actor Naseeruddin Shah says Mughals were refugees, gets slammed online

Veteran Actor Naseeruddin Shah hit headlines on Wednesday, December 29 after he called Mughals refugees in his latest interview. The video of the same is going viral on the internet.

In the viral video, the A Wednesday actor can be seen speaking on the show The Interview with Karan Thapar. He can be heard saying that the so-called atrocities of the Mughals are being highlighted all the time and we forget that the Mughals are people who have contributed to the country.

He went on and said that Mughals have left lasting monuments in the country who have left the tradition of dancing, music, painting, literature. Further, the actor said that Mughals came to India to make the country their homeland and we can call them refugees.

Earlier in September, Naseeruddin Shah found himself in controversy after he opened up about why the three Khans of Bollywood don’t speak on controversial subjects. In an interview, he had said that certain filmmakers and actors are encouraged by the government to make pro-government films. He had also said that the government also finance them and promise them to give a clean chit to the film.
